Ijeoma means ‘lucky’ or good omen’.

The property has been named in the Nigerian Language of Igbo. This serves to remind us of the history of this beautiful island and is a tribute to the people involved and a memory of their time on Bequia.

‘Industry Bay’ was thriving in the  19th century with sugar cane plantations covering this part of Bequia. The plantations depended on the labour of slaves. These people were mainly from Nigeria in West Africa.

The principle Nigerian language was, and still is, Igbo.
